Abstract: Security Servers in Internet PhD Thesis Abstract The problem of information security system is a modern issue which has generated increasingly concerns and activities in the last years. From security management standards to guidelines and technical manuals, information security system is a topical issue that would meet real problems. In particular, security of computer systems on the Internet is a problem that is identified with the Internet’s evolution itself. Designed initially as an open communication medium, the Internet has dealt with security issues throughout its development. Increasingly more often initially ignored security issues had to find solution so the Internet can continue to exist as a safe environment for interconnecting and be a viable alternative for business with enhanced security requirements. The thesis describes a comprehensive security model for a class of computer systems, namely those systems connected to the Internet. Coverage model is quite large but not universal. The results cover the server systems (which offer services to other systems) and analyze the issues in this category gradually, from physical security to information security system and information transmitted over the network. A special feature is the organization's hierarchical model on three levels: level stand-alone, local network and Internet level that can be used independently gradually. Approach of the thesis was motivated both by the absence of a special model for the category of systems studied and by the timeliness and importance of the issues studied. Even if the technical approach is found in other studies and material and although the issue itself was already made, the model created and described in this thesis is original and valuable by contributing that focused on a major and very current section.
