Abstract: Faculty of POWER ENGINEERING Hydraulics and Hydraulic Machinery Department Contributions to porous diffuser hydro-gas-dynamics Coordinator: prof. Valeriu Nicolae PANAITESCU PhD. Student: eng. Gabriela OPRINA This study deals with a very important and up-to-date scientific problem, the hydrodynamics and mass transfer in bubble columns. Among many technical applications of this study one can find: waste water aeration, lakes, ponds and pools oxygenation etc. A complex theoretical and experimental research was carried out regarding different aspects of bubble column phenomena such as: hydrodynamics, mass transfer, numerical modeling and materials used in manufacturing of porous diffusers. This research was made in order to correlate hydrodynamics and mass transfer parameters of diffused aeration systems: pressure drop, bubble size distribution, overall and local gas hold-up, volumetric mass transfer coefficient etc. to finally obtain maximum aeration with minimum energy consumption.
