Andrei-Horia Mogos Adviser: Prof. dr. ing. Adina Magda Florea Abstract This Ph. D. thesis studies the problem of generating a web service by decomposing its semantic description and offers solutions to this problem. At the beginning, the thesis presents an analysis of the main technologies related to the problem and the main existing approaches. The thesis also studies some particular cases based on two directions: 1) considering several scenarios and offering particular solutions for the main problem; 2) considering a special case of semantic web services, the mathematical semantic web services and proposing solutions for this particular case of the problem. An important theoretical part of the thesis consists in studying the comparison of two complexity functions in two cases: one-variable complexity functions and multivariable complexity functions. The main result of the thesis is the following: we propose a formalism, a system and an algorithm for solving the general form of the problem of generating a web service using its semantic description decomposition; the approach is based on representing the semantic descriptions using complexity functions and on the interaction between the system and a human user that allows the system to learn the necessary semantic information and in the end to solve the problem fully automatic.
