Abstract: ABSTRACT Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering Thesis title: “Studies and research on the synthesis and characterization of ferromagnetic microwires with applications in industry” Author: Eng. Eugen MANTA Scientific Coordinator: Prof. Dr. Eng. Maria PETRESCU The studies and experimental researches focused on the development and characterization of some ferromagnetic glass-coated microwires that can be used in industrial applications. To obtain microwires is necessary first to obtain alloys in the form of rods which are used then to obtain microwires. Microwires were then obtained on microwires installation type ITMF –1, and then were characterized in terms of the structural, magnetic, electrical and mechanical proprieties. Was also tested the corrosion resistance, these tests being necessary for one of the applications presented in this thesis. Depending of the nature of metallic core, the microwires properties are very different. So the glass-coated microwires field of application can be very large: microcircuits for telecommunication, miniaturized high-voltage transformers, elements for magnetic encoding, sensitive elements for magnetic sensors, electromagnetic shielding, anti-shoplifting labels based on glass coated microwires, elements for securitization of products and documents authentication, brand protection, and access control, encoding of information, under floor heating systems installed directly under all types of floor covering. In this thesis it has been studied the conditions for obtaining composites reinforced with ferromagnetic microwires for applications such as anti-shoplifting labels based on glass coated microwires, elements for securitization of products and documents authentication, or shielding against electromagnetic radiation. By using secure paper can reduce the volume limit of counterfeiting and tax evasion. The amount lost by the state budget by counterfeit alcohol: 13 million €, and for tobacco, this sum rises to € 224 million
