Abstract: The types of primary flow transducers, temperature transducers and computers are described, mentioning those that are used inside the heat meters. A comparative study of the constructive solutions of flow rate sensors from a technical point of view – accuracy – and economical, identifying the achievable models, is presented. An orientation matrix is constructed, finding the optimum solution. An increase of accuracy and reliability is obtained for the built ultrasound meter, patented and presented in the thesis. The existence of laminar flow in the hot water pipe is no more imperative, due to the placement of an internally calibrated tube inside the flow sensor, through which water flows. The tube has at its ends two rose wheels, with the purpose of regulating turbulence. The ultrasonic transducers are installed at the ends of the rose wheels, crossing the direction of the flowing water. Standardizing and testing the three components of the meter in various conditions of water temperature and water flow was done in an ultra high performance laboratory that was developed following the recommendations of the European Directive 204/22/EC – annex MI-004. The tests showed very good results for the meter, at the level of the highest accomplishments worldwide.
